It's Not An Easy Game - Crouch

Posted on: Fri 23 Oct 2009

Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch believes they will be in for a tough game when they host the Potters at the weekend.

Spurs have won three of their four games at White Hart Lane so far this campaign - losing only to Champions Manchester United - and will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to five games with a victory on Saturday.

Crouch, however, insists it won't be an easy home game for his side as Tony Pulis' side proved to Everton last time they were on the road.

"We all know what they are all about," he said.

"They are always a tough, tough team and a team that will be difficult to break down, a team that will try to impose itself on the game.

"They've had some great results, beat top teams and quite often teams just don't know how to deal with them with the long throws and set-pieces, but they have a lot of quality as well, so we'll have to be careful. It's not an easy game."

Crouch did score for Portsmouth against the Potters at Fratton Park early last season, but was witness to a far more organised outfit when the two sides met again at the Britannia Stadium later on in the term.

The England international is set for a place in the Spurs starting eleven with Jermain Defoe suspended for the game, and admits that he is impressed with how Stoke have adapted to life in the top flight and how they've progressed this season.

"When they first came up they were favourites to go straight back down," he added.

"But credit to Stoke, they've done fantastically well and they've established themselves in the Premier League.

"Teams might have fallen into the trap of thinking they were going to go out there and roll Stoke over last season but now everyone knows that's not the case.

"We've got to be able to match their effort and commitment and that's something we'll endeavour to do.

"All said and done though, with the quality we have, we'd like to say we've got enough to beat them."
