A Fair Result - McDonald

Posted on: Sun 29 Nov 2009

BLACKBURN assistant manager Neil McDonald has described Saturday's stalemate at Ewood Park as a fair result.

The Scotsman, who is standing in as temporary manager in Sam Allardyce's absence, admits the Potters had chances to win the game, and says whilst they missed out on a chance to secure a fifth successive home victory, he is pleased to have taken a point from what he describes as an 'extremely tough game'.

"We knew what to expect from Stoke and I thought they were very good," he said in the post match press conference.

"They had two good chances in the first half where luckily for us Robbo [Paul Robinson] has kept us in it, but I think in the second half their keeper had a lot more work to do.

"Both keepers certainly earned their money today and that is good for us because we got a point and obviously good for them because they have taken a point from the game too.

"They are a very physical team who can also play football as well so we always knew it would be a very hard game for us. They are very strong at the back, and I include the midfield in that because they did a very good job.

"I think we had the better of the second half and very nearly won it right at the death. But we have taken a point and I am pleased with that," he added.
