THE FOOTBALL League has announced the 50 golden moments that will compete for the honour of being voted the greatest League Cup moment of all time and Stoke City are one of 39 clubs in the running to claim top spot!

Gordon Banks' superb penalty save from World Cup winning team-mate Geoff Hurst in the 1972 League Cup Semi-Final between the Potters and West Ham United is the moment that can be voted for, and supporters can do so by clicking HERE.

The poll is being conducted as this season is the 50th year of the League Cup and since August, fans have been nominating their favourite Cup memory through The Football League website.

Supporters now have the opportunity to select their all-time favourite from the final 50 through an online vote and, in the process, give themselves the chance to win one of 50 pairs of tickets for the 2010 Carling Cup Final or one of 200 special edition Carling Cup Final balls!

From the first-ever goal by Fulham's Maurice Cook in 1960 to Ben Foster's penalty heroics in last season's Final, the vote includes clubs from across The Football League and Premier League, right down to those now playing in the non-league game.

Of course, the lads in red and white progressed past the Hammers that year, and then went on to beat Chelsea to lift the trophy at Wembley Stadium. But they may well have never reached the final had Banks not saved the spot kick.
