STOKE CITY will celebrate the life of their most famous footballing son Sir Stanley Matthews at the Barclays Premier League match against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
The Club have announced that they will be remembering the achievements of the legendary winger and have revealed that a new line of merchandise in memory of the Wizard of the Dribble will be coming soon.
The exclusive Sir Stanley Matthews Wizard collection being launched by the Potters will be available from February 23rd which is the 10th anniversary of his untimely death.
As part of the celebrations at the Blackburn game on Saturday afternoon, there will be a collection for the Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation, a great legacy which has been helping young people to pursue their dreams in sport since it was formed in October 2000.
"We want Saturday to be a special occasion to remember and celebrate the remarkable achievements of a very special man, the like of which we are unlikely to ever see again in football," commented the Club's Chief Executive Tony Scholes.
"Sir Stan was a great ambassador and a tremendous role model. He is still revered worldwide and he has played a big part in putting Stoke City on the football map."
He added: "The legend still lives on in the form of his Foundation and an important element of Saturday's celebrations will be to support this organisation."
As well as seeking to raise awareness and money for the Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation, the Club will be producing a special souvenir programme for the Blackburn match.
Further details about the Sir Stanley Matthews Wizard collection will be announced later this month and this range will help to raise fund for the Foundation.
