Tyson's Flying Visit To Clayton Wood

Posted on: Thu 18 Mar 2010

TONY PULIS and members of Stoke City's first team squad got the chance to meet one of the world's greatest-ever sporting stars this afternoon as Mike Tyson made a surprise appearance at the Clayton Wood Training Ground.

The four-times Heavyweight Champion of the World made the flying visit to the Potters' training base on route to Manchester Airport at the end of his ten day tour of the United Kingdom which included stops in Stoke and Birmingham.

"It was fantastic to welcome someone of his stature here," Pulis told stokecityfc.com. "He wasn't able to stay long and it was literally a last-minute thing, so unfortunately a few of the lads had already gone home after training.

"But for myself, and the lucky ones who were there it was an honour and a privilege to meet the great man. He is someone who has been at the top of his game for many of years. He is an all-time great as far as boxing goes.

*Stoke City Player cameras were also on hand to capture the moment… so be sure to log on to watch Tyson's visit.
