WEST HAM United first-team coach Kevin Keen has expressed his determination to claim a crucial victory over his former club at Upton Park on Saturday.
The 43-year-old midfielder, who made over 200 appearances for the Potters, has now firmly established himself within the Hammers management team and is eager to exact revenge for the 2-1 defeat they suffered at the Britannia Stadium earlier in the season.
"Last year we went and won there and I think, this year, we deserved to get at least a draw," he said ahead of the match against Stoke City this weekend.
"I think we've done quite well there and combated the way they play and the crowd quite well. Unfortunately, it didn't go our way this season."
Keen is fully aware of the threat posed by Tony Pulis' side but is confident the Hammers can bounce back from Tuesday's 3-1 defeat at home to Wolves.
"We need three points. We nicked it last year with Diego Tristan's deflected goal and it will be another very tough game. However, I think we've got every chance because they're not in the relegation fight and I don't think they're going for Europe."
Despite having fond memories of his time at Stoke and still having close connections with the club, Keen will put his feelings to one side for 90 minutes on Saturday as he hopes to engineer a vital win that would ease West Ham's relegation fears.
