STOKE CITY'S new Official Kit Supplier adidas has had its status as the number one brand in football endorsed by a survey among supporters.

The Football Fans Census survey put adidas top of the table when supporters were asked to choose the brand for their Club's kit and training wear.

More than 50% of fans went for adidas or Nike, but it was the Potters' Official Kit Supplier which came out on top by polling 29% of the votes.

The results of the survey among Premier League and Football League fans support City's decision to switch to adidas in a new long-term partnership and comes at a time when the Club have launched sales of the home kit for the 2010-11 season.

"This agreement has given us the chance to work with world football's number one brand and this survey certainly backs up the tremendous popularity of adidas among supporters," commented City's Head of Commercial Andrew Billingham.

"We wanted to provide our players, management and supporters with the very best in terms of kit and training wear and we are confident that the quality and design of the adidas products will make them very popular for all concerned."

Tim Gentles, Managing Director of the Football Fans Census, saluted the power of adidas and Nike, saying: "There's clearly a big two in this market, and this wasn't the case 15 years ago. The top two, adidas and Nike, have invested consistently in that time in their brands, and that seems to have reaped rewards for them in terms of popularity."

That dominance of the marketplace is also translated into wider sportswear. Ranking them on a sliding scale between minus 10 and plus 10, adidas were top with 5.2.

City's new ClimaCool home shirt offers the very latest in fabric technology and the survey revealed that a 66% of fans found their kit either great or good to wear.

On top of that, a significant number of fans considered that their shirts were better than average at resisting wear and tear when compared with other tops in their wardrobe.

"The survey seems back up manufacturers' claims that replica kits are a high quality purchase compared to other leisure wear options," added Gentles.
