ALBION ROVERS 0
STOKE CITY 9 (Kitson 2, Beattie, Marshall, Lund, Cuvelier, Soares, Thomas, own goal)
A STOKE CITY XI romped to a 9-0 victory in their pre-season friendly against Gwent County League side Albion Rovers at Crindau Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Potters, who were being overlooked by Assistant Manager Dave Kemp comfortably swept aside the Newport based side, with seven players getting on the scoresheet in the process.
Former Reading star David Kitson bagged a brace, whilst there were also strikes for James Beattie, Ben Marshall, Matthew Lund, summer signing Florent Cuvelier, Tom Soares, Wayne Thomas, who is currently training with the Club, and an own goal from a Rovers defender.
The game, which took place in South Wales, gave a host of players the chance to build up their fitness as they bid to force a way into manager Tony Pulis' first team plans for the forthcoming campaign.
Speaking following the game Kemp paid tribute to the squad saying: "The attitude and professionalism of the players was first class. Each and every one of them played the game in the right manner.
"The conditions weren't the best, but they did very well out there," he added. "Their fitness is progressing all of the time, and obviously that is the main thing for us because we want to make sure we are ready for that first game of the season."
