A YOUNG Stoke City side battled out a goalless draw with Blue Square North outfit Worcester City in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.
Assistant Manager Dave Kemp took charge of the Potters, whose only first team experience came from the likes of Carlo Nash, Andy Davies and David Kitson.
The rest of the team was predominantly made up of players from the Academy, with first year scholars Connor Roberts-Nurse and Lucas Dawson making their bows for the Club.
The match itself, which was watched by a crowd of 461, was a pretty lethargic affair with neither side able to find a breakthrough during the 90 minutes.
Ryan Brunt went close for the visitors early on with a long range strike which almost deceived the Worcester goalkeeper, whilst Kitson was unlucky not to fire home an opener after squirming free inside the penalty area.
Former Southampton defender Davies was forced off after picking up a minor knock midway through the first half, shortly before the hosts almost broke the deadlock through Jamie Price, but his effort cannoned back off the crossbar.
Chances were few and far between during the second period with Cameron Mitchell bringing out the best of the Worcester keeper just before the hour mark, whilst the impressive Matthew Lund fired a free-kick just over from 25-yards.
Both sides pressed in search of a late winner, but neither managed to find a breakthrough and the game ended scoreless.
