Salif extended his stay at the Club by a further 12 months in the summer and he will be hoping for regular action in the Premier League this season.
Salif enjoyed two successful loan spells at the Britannia Stadium during the 2006/07 season and went on to sign a permanent two-year deal at the Club after leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2007.
He has struggled with injury during his time at the Club but managed 20 appearances last season to help the Potters to safety.
The 32-year-old has played for Birmingham and Portsmouth as well as Liverpool in the Premier League and his experience will be crucial for City this season as they bid to secure a third straight campaign in the top flight.
The Senegal midfielder was courted by a number of other clubs, both in England and abroad, in the summer but stated his love for Stoke made him stay.
