Abdoulaye won every one of the fans' Player of the Season awards in his first year at the Britannia Stadium following a £2,250,000 move from Newcastle United last summer.
The 31-year-old ended a 12-month spell at St James' Park to pen a three-year deal with City and he proved to be another inspired signing by Tony Pulis.
His leadership skills, tough tackling and ability on the ball quickly earned him a place in the City fans' hearts and his superb form saw him take the captaincy for the second half of the season.
Abdoulaye was first brought to the Premier League by Bolton boss Sam Allardyce, who then took him to the north east with him, and the Senegal defender is sorely missed by both the Trotters and Magpies.
Arsenal were linked with a bid for the City star last season but he has vowed to finish his career at the Britannia Stadium.
