Danny returned to the Club for a second spell last season and quickly established himself as a regular member of City's back four.
The 30-year-old first joined the Club from Southampton in the summer of 2006 for an initial £225,000 but was sold on to Sunderland just over 12 months later at a huge profit.
The former Manchester United defender went on to make 22 appearances for the Black Cats in the Premier League, scoring three goals.
However, Tony Pulis was keen to get him back after joining Sunderland in the top flight and Danny eventually completed a move back to the in September 2008.
He played 30 times last season before a back injury curtailed his season.
