Thomas has been City's first-choice goalkeeper ever since joining the Club on a free transfer in July 2008.
The 33-year-old signed a three-year deal at the Britannia Stadium after his contract expired at Aston Villa and Tony Pulis' decision to make him number one proved a good one last season as the Dane kept 12 clean sheets.
He began his career in his native country with Odense BK but was snapped up in 1998 by Sunderland where he kept a phenomenal 29 clean sheets in his debut season to help the Black Cats win promotion to the Premier League.
He made 197 appearances in total for the club before enhancing his international reputation with almost 150 outings in a Villa shirt.
