STOKE CITY 2 (Alexander 61, Thorley pen 84)
WEST BROM 0

Stoke's second string got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Midlands rivals West Brom.

Warwick Alexander and Tom Thorley from the spot sealed victory for City in the second half.

Adie Pennock named a youthful side that included no first team players.

City were the better team in the first half, with Louis Moult going closest by creating two chances for himself, but the teams remained deadlocked at half time.

Nathaniel Wedderburn injured his ankle early on in the game but managed to last the full 90 minutes.

Alexander booked for encroaching in the first half after he was adjudged to have unfairly blocked a Baggies free kick.

The Potters improved in the second half and got their reward after an hour.

Alexander pounced on a good ball from Jimmy Phillips, and drilled the ball home with a half-volley after turning a defender.

Stoke doubled their lead with little over five minutes remaining when Moult was brought down in the box after latching on to another through ball from Phillips.

Captain Tom Thorley thumped the ball home from the spot to secure the points for City.
