Ryan Shotton scored his first-ever goal for the reserves, but it was too little and too late as another inexperienced Potters side - without a single senior player - ended their Pontins League campaign in defeat at Valley Parade.

Goalkeeper Rob Duggan was City's outstanding performer, but even he couldn't prevent Bradford racing into a 2-0 lead at the interval.

The Republic of Ireland youth international pulled of a magnificent stop to deny Jake Wright before Joe Brown opened the scoring midway through the first-half with a fine strike.

The Bantams doubled their lead soon after as former Ipswich and Celtic star Bobby Petta played in Jason St. Juste, who gave the helpless Duggan no chance from 12-yards.

Matthew Hazley came closest to reducing the deficit before the break, but his effort was turned away for a corner from point blank range by home 'keeper Ben Saynor.

City's youngsters spurned further chances in the second-half, with winger Hazley firing a decent chance over the bar on the hour.

And just ten minutes later they were made to pay as Bradford put the contest beyond doubt through striker Brown, who reacted quickest to fire home Duggan's parry from Petta's mazy run and shot.

Substitute Hayden Doyle skewed wide as the Potters looked to restore pride and defensive mainstay Shotton eventually found the net five minutes from time after being set-up by James Curley, but it was too little too late.
