By Stoke City Football Club
A LADIES TEAM representing Stoke City was formed in the summer of 2001… and they’ve been climbing the leagues ever since.
The inaugural season in the West Midlands League Division One ended in success as the team finished third in the table and gained promotion via the play-offs.
From there they consolidated their position in the West Midland Premier Division and began entering into the Staffordshire County Cup.
A first final was reached in 2007, which they won, and they’ve returned to retain the trophy a further four times since.
In 2011 a landmark was reached as both the first team and reserve sides reached the showpiece occasion to play against each other, something achieved once again in 2013.
Promotion to the Midland Women’s Combination was won in 2009 as the team finished as Champions and they continue to search for a successive promotion, something edged away from them narrowly at the end of the 2011-12 campaign.
