THE Capture of Wilfried Bony ended Mark Hughes' summer-long chase for a proven top-flight striker.

A player of undoubted quality, the Ivory Coast international jumped at the chance to make a season-long loan switch to the bet365 Stadium after struggling for regular game time at Manchester City following his £28M move 18 months earlier.

His sensational form for Swansea City in 2013/14, a season in which he netted 25 times, caught the attention of several European heavyweights including Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City.

It was the Citizens who won the race for his signature in January 2015 however, with the striker arriving there having already hit nine further goals in the opening half of his second season in England.

Bony's name first became notable to European sides during his productive period with Vitesse Arnhem, for who he netted a remarkable 53 goals in 73 appearances for, following an equally as impressive spell with Sparta Prague in the Czech First League.
