33 Players Set For Switzerland

Premier League Balls

NINE Academy scholars will bolster Mark Hughes’ travelling party for the forthcoming week long training camp in Switzerland, stokecityfc.com can reveal.

The City boss and his staff will be joined by 33 players from the Club, including the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Geoff Cameron, Joe Allen and Ramadan, who will all report back for training after being given extended leave following their international commitments during the summer.

With three games pencilled in for next week, with the first being coming against Neuchatel Xamax in the Uhrencup tomorrow evening, Hughes has decided to give opportunities to a large number of the Potters’ most promising talents.

Belgian starlets Julien Ngoy and Thibaud Verlinden have been promoted to the first-team this season, so they are exempt from the nine players from Glyn Hodges’ U23 squad who will depart from Manchester this afternoon.

Last season’s U18 Player of the Year Tom Edwards will travel, as will recent recruit Joe Bursik, who shone for England this summer as they reached the Final of the UEFA U17 European Championships in Croatia.

There are also spots amongst the squad for Harry Souttar, Ryan Sweeney, Oliver Shenton, Dan Jarvis, Dom Telford and Tyrese Campbell, who made a major impression in last season’s run to the FA Youth Cup Semi-Final.

Darren Fletcher, who arrived from West Bromwich Albion last month, will also link-up with his new teammates for the first time ahead of departure, whilst England U20 left-back Josh Tymon is also included.

Full travelling party:

Butland, Grant, Haugaard, Bursik*, Bardsley, Johnson, Edwards* Shawcross, Wollscheid, Muniesa, Souttar*, Sweeney*, Pieters, Tymon, Imbula, Adam, Fletcher, Whelan, Cameron, Allen, Shenton*, Jarvis*, Telford*, Bojan, Arnautovic, Shaqiri, Ramadan, Verlinden, Ngoy, Berahino, Crouch, Diouf, Campbell*.
