Bankes Is The Man

Peter Bankes

PETER BANKES will be the man in the middle for Stoke City’s home Championship clash with Reading on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

It will be the fourth time this season he has taken charge of a Potters game and it’s been a case of won one, drawn one and lost one.

He was the referee when the Potters, then under the guidance of Gary Rowett, beat Premier League Huddersfield Town 2-0 at the bet365 Stadium in the second round of the Carabao Cup back in August.

Bankes was next on City duty for the 2-2 Championship draw with Midlands rivals Aston Villa in December and he was in the same role last month when Hull beat the Potters 2-0 at the KCOM Stadium.

In total he has been in charge of 33 league and cup games this season – none of which have involved Reading. He has issued 144 yellow cards and four reds.

He will be assisted at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday by Darren Blunden and Timothy Wood with Jeremy Simpson the fourth official.
