Bielsa Is a Fan of Nathan

Marcelo Bielsa

MARCELO BIELSA has hailed the creative coaching qualities of Nathan Jones as the pair prepare to go head-to-head at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

Jones will take his home Championship bow as Stoke City manager against Bielsa’s league leaders in front of what is expected to be the Club’s biggest attendance of the season.

The Welshman will be hoping to secure his first win for the Potters at the third attempt but his opposite number is already an admirer of his work.

Speaking to the media today Bielsa said: “Head coaches express themselves through the games of their teams. You have head coaches who give traditional answers with common things not new things and you have inventive head coaches and I think he is a head coach that has creation. He is not a traditional head coach.”

Bielsa masterminded a 3-1 win over the Potters on the opening weekend of the Championship season but knows his team will be coming up against quality opposition on Saturday.

He added: “We can't have any doubt about the quality of the players of Stoke, my point of view is not important but you just have to look at the games that they play. And it's a team which has the skills to have a higher rank than they have now.

“Every time I look at the results after a game we have more unexpected results than expected ones, I think the attractive aspects of the Championship is the unexpected results you can get. If I had to describe the Championship I would say the one who wants to win is not the one who wins and if the favourite team wins it's never easy for the favourite team, it means the differences in the table, you don't see them when you see the game.”
