SATURDAY’S visit of Aston Villa will be the first opportunity for the supporters of Stoke City to pay their respects to the late Gordon Banks OBE at the bet365 Stadium.
With tributes planned throughout the day, the Club will be holding a minute’s silence prior to kick-off with members of Gordon’s family and the 1972 League Cup winning team both pitchside.
A special souvenir edition of #pottersmag will also be available for purchase in the stadium store on Saturday morning and around the stadium prior to kick-off, filled with tributes and highlights throughout Gordon’s career.
We would like to encourage supporters who sit in the Tile Mountain Stand to be in their seats for 2.50pm, with a mosaic tribute planned. Supporters are invited to lift the cards, that will be placed on the seats, during the minute’s silence.
A further goalkeeping tribute will also be made during the match, with more to be revealed tomorrow.
While we anticipate the majority of supporters will want to visit the Gordon Banks statue on Saturday, the Club would like to remind supporters that Club officials will be in situ at all times, ensuring suitable pedestrian access is maintained and allowing respects to be paid by those who wish to do so.
With all this in mind, we would like to encourage all supporters to arrive at the bet365 Stadium early in order to avoid excessive congestion around the stadium.
Tickets are still available for this weekend’s match. Please visit scfcdirect.com, the bet365 Stadium Ticket Office, intu Potteries Club Store or call (01782) 367 599.
