Defender happy after making Potters bow..
DEFENDER Joshua Tymon says his Stoke City debut could not have gone any better as his man of the match performance helped the Potters to a comfortable 4-0 win over Rochdale.
Joe Allen, Peter Crouch and Ramadan all wrote their names of the scoresheet, with the former bagging a brace, however it was the performance of Tymon which caught the eye of many at the bet365 Stadium.
The 18-year-old put in an all action display at left wing back and was unfortunate not to net himself after a first half effort was spectacularly saved, before a late chip from the edge of the area clipped the top of the crossbar.
It certainly proved to be a night to remember for the England Under-20 international and speaking to Stoke City+ shortly after the full time whistle, Tymon expressed his delight at how things had played out.
“Tonight couldn’t have gone any better from a personal perspective on what was my first start as a Stoke City player, and in front of the home crowd.
“It was great night for me and I was happy with the way I played. I just want to thank all the staff and fans who were amazing all night.
“I know I’m still young, and young players can become nervous at times, but as soon as I relax into the game I know I’m capable with my ability on the football pitch and luckily I showed that tonight.
“I always become nervous prior to a game, and obviously with this being my new club where I’ve come to try to challenge for a first team spot, the pressure is always going to be on you, but I just have to live up to that. I lived up to it at my previous club and I’m here now to kick on and be the best I can.”
