Full-back to miss trip to Portugal...
TOM EDWARDS is to miss England U20s’ game against Portugal next week after withdrawing from the squad through injury.
The Stoke City full-back is one of three players to pull out of the squad following yesterday’s 3-1 defeat to Poland at St. George’s Park.
Trevoh Chalobah and Elliot Embleton have also withdrawn from Paul Simpson’s group ahead of next Tuesday’s game against the Portuguese. Edwards will return to Clayton Wood to be assessed.
Edwards started against Poland but England found themselves 2-0 down at half-time – at which point the Potters man was substituted.
The visitors when further ahead early in the second half before Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah bagged what proved to be a consolation goal.
Elsewhere yesterday defender Max Murphy played the full 90 minutes as Andy Reid's Republic of Ireland U18s slipped to a 4-0 loss in Turkey
Goalkeeper Nathan Broome meanwhile wasn't involved with the England U17s as they recorded a 5-2 victory over Switzerland at St. George's Park.
