Young defender set to return to squad...
TOM EDWARDS is on course to return to Gary Rowett’s plans for Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa (kick-off 3pm).
The young defender was forced to relinquish his place on the bench for last weekend’s game against Ipswich due to injury, which opened the way for another youngster, Lasse Sorensen, to take his place.
But Rowett has revealed that Edwards has resumed training and, assuming he suffers no adverse reaction, will be in his thoughts for the Villa game.
He said: “Tom felt a problem in his inner thigh which ruled him out and because of the Club Player Developed rule that gives you a little bit of a problem, so we brought Lasse in.
“He’s done really well in recent U23 games and deserved a place on the bench, even though it left us a little bit unbalanced in some ways.
“But Tom trained yesterday and hopefully if he’s got through it ok – and he looked ok – we’ll have no injuries heading to Villa.”
Rowett has also confirmed that Tom Ince, who felt some discomfort against Ipswich following a recent hernia operation, is fully fit.
The Potters will again be without midfielder Peter Etebo at Villa Park as the Nigerian international completes his three-match suspension following his sending-off against Derby last month.
