Hughes Suffers Bruno Blow

Bruno Martins Indi

MARK HUGHES has confirmed Bruno Martins Indi is facing a spell of up to eight weeks on the sidelines.

The Dutch international was prematurely forced to depart the action during last weekend’s 2-1 triumph over Swansea City after sustaining a groin injury.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, Hughes confirmed that his initial fears had been realised after the defender underwent a scan earlier in the week.

“Bruno, as we feared unfortunately, is likely to be out for quite some time,” the City boss confirmed.

“The worst case scenario is eight weeks, but we hope he will be back before then - it’s one of them where we will have to wait and see."

“He has really damaged the groin area, and to be fair we sensed that on the day because he was in a significant amount of pain.”

He added: “He has started his treatment already, but it will be a long process.”
