Winger to undergo midweek surgery...
TOM INCE insists he will do all he can to return to Gary Rowett’s plans as soon as possible after hernia surgery.
Boss Rowett revealed after yesterday’s goalless home draw with Middlesbrough that Ince is to undergo surgery on Tuesday which will rule him out of next Saturday's meeting with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, the Potters final game before the third international break of the campaign.
It’s a frustrating setback for the winger but he’s hoping he won’t be away from the first-team scene for too long.
“I’m not sure how long I’ll be out for,” he said. “We’ve got to see how I react so it’s a bit disappointing but the last few games I’ve been playing at 80 per cent, 70 per cent.
“It’s been playing up for the last two or three weeks. It’s one of those things when you always try to time it right because you always want to be available for selection.
“I felt this was probably the best time to do it because Saturday and with the international break, it was a good time to try get back so hopefully it’ll be sooner rather than later. I’ve got two weeks to try to recover and hopefully get back for QPR or Derby.
“It’s annoying but it’s one of those things you can’t change unfortunately and I’ll do my best to get back as soon as possible.
“It’s one of those things that need doing and unfortunately it’s come to a point when I can’t just try to manage it and go out and play through it not being myself.
“But there’s a lot of quality in this team and a lot of belief that we can get three points at Forest.”
