Jones Names His Starting XI

Dressing Room

NATHAN JONES has named his first Stoke City starting line-up for Saturday’s Championship showdown with Brentford at Griffin Park.

The Welshman has gone with his favoured 4-4-2 diamond formation as he looks to lead his new side to a first victory of 2019.

As expected Jack Butland ushers a back four that comprises of Tom Edwards, skipper Ryan Shawcross, Ashley Williams and Dutch international Erik Pieters.

Former Bees ace Ryan Woods sits in midfield with Joe Allen and Sam Clucas on either side of the diamond, just behind Tom Ince, who starts in the advanced midfield position.

Benik Afobe is partnered by Saido Berahino up front, whilst the likes of Harry Souttar, Tyrese Campbell and Moritz Bauer are named amongst the substitutes bench.

Stoke City: Butland; Edwards, Shawcross (c), Williams, Pieters; Woods; Allen, Clucas; Ince; Afobe, Berahino. Subs: Federici, Bauer, Souttar, Etebo, McClean, Campbell, Crouch.
