Lambert Has Injury Concerns

Paul Lambert

PAUL LAMBERT admits he has a couple of injury worries to contend with ahead of this weekend’s live televised showdown with Leicester City.

The Potters make the short journey east on Saturday bidding for only their second away win in the league this term, having squandered the opportunity of securing maximum spoils against Brighton & Hove Albion last time out.

However, the Scotsman says he may be forced into making changes to his starting XI at the King Power Stadium with ‘one or two’ players currently rated as doubtful.

Speaking to the press on Thursday, he said: “We have one or two knocks and niggles, so we are going to have to check on them tomorrow.

“It is too early to say whether they will make it or not, so as it stands you would have to say they are doubts.

“But, as I say, we will get them back in tomorrow morning and see how they are. If they come through and make it then great, but if not then we have a big enough squad to cope.”

Lambert did confirm though that Peter Crouch will be forced to miss out this weekend as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.

“The game will come around a little bit too early for Peter, but he is making good progress which is pleasing,” he added.

“Realistically, he could be back in contention for the Southampton game next weekend.”

Meanwhile Stephen Ireland remains side-lined with a niggling injury although Bruno Martins Indi is available for selection after making a full recovery from a leg injury.
