Late Comeback Secures PL2 Point

Gabriel Kyeremateng

STOKE CITY U23s scored twice in the final few minutes of their Premier League 2 clash with Middlesbrough on Friday evening to secure a share of the spoils.

Mitchell Curry and Tyrone O’Neill had put the host into a 2-0 lead, before Kevin Russell’s side staged a remarkable comeback with minutes left on the clock.

Striker Gabriel Kyeremateng was the first to strike when he finished off Abdoulaye Toure’s cross from the left wing in the 89th minute.

Then, less than 60 seconds later, Fiji international Scott Wara ensured the Potters left the North East with a point as he stepped up from the back to fire through the keeper’s legs.

The youngsters play their final match of the season on Friday evening when they welcome promotion-chasing Reading to Harrison Park (7.00pm).

Stoke City: Broome, Coates (Macari 38), Corrigan, Porter (Varian 74), Wara, McJannet, Pemberton, Twyford, Kyeremateng, Shenton, Toure. Unused: Gyollai, Malone.
