Peter's Feeling The Love

Peter Crouch

PETER CROUCH has revealed that his love for the Club is continuing to grow after penning a 12-month contract extension at the bet365 Stadium.

The news means the 36-year-old, who joined the Potters from Tottenham Hotspur for a then record £12million deal in August 2011, is set to enter into an eighth season as a Stoke City player.

The former England international has made a major impact in North Staffordshire, netting 58 times in all competitions - hitting double figures in four of his seven full seasons to date.

Speaking moments after signing his extended agreement, he said: “I really enjoy it here, I love it to be fair - it’s like home.

“I love working with the staff here, we have a great group of players who are hungry to succeed and I just love coming in on a daily basis.

“I have always had a really special relationship with the supporters too, so from that perspective it was a no brainer to sign a longer deal.

“Obviously from the football side of things, the top six aside, I really don’t think there is anywhere else better to be, I genuinely do think we are the best of the rest.”

He added: “I truly believe that, and I want to confirm that by enjoying this season really strongly.”

The experienced frontman, who has scored three top-flight goals from the bench this season, says he is delighted that the Club have made it a priority to tie him down long-term.

“It was all done really quickly really, but I always knew that I would be here next year,” he smiled.

“I am just so happy that we have been able to get it all signed and sealed so early on, so that I can just keep concentrating on the football.

“The last thing I would have wanted was to have had this drag on, and to be left hanging a little bit, so thank you to the Club for prioritising it and wanting to get it done now.

“As long as the Club keeps offering me these extensions and having the belief in me that they do, then I will keep on signing them.”
