Potters Submit Retained List

STOKE CITY have submitted its retained list to the Premier League following the conclusion of the 2016/17 season.

The Potters can confirm that a 12 month extension has been triggered to extend the contract of experienced right back Phil Bardsley. 

The 31-year-old has made 63 appearances in all competitions for the Club after arriving on a free transfer from Sunderland in the summer of 2014. 

Midfielder Stephen Ireland meanwhile has been offered a new deal as he continues his rehabilitation from a double leg break sustained in training last year. 

Goalkeeper Shay Given however heads a list of six professional players who will depart the bet365 Stadium when their contracts expire on 30th June. 

Former Republic of Ireland international Given chalked up 11 appearances for the Club during his two-year spell in North Staffordshire, six of which came at the start of the 2016/17 campaign as he deputised for the injured England shot-stopper Jack Butland. 

Fellow first team ‘keeper Daniel Bachmann will also leave the Club next month, along with four players from the Potters’ Under-23 squad, Liam Edwards, Harry Isted, Joel Taylor and George Waring. 

A quartet of Glyn Hodges’ youngsters have however triggered new one-year deals, while professional contracts have been offered to three members of the Under-18 squad, including two-time Player of the Year Thomas Edwards.
