Details of England and the FA’s tribute to Gordon…
ENGLAND AND the Football Association will pay tribute to the late great Gordon Banks before and during this evening’s EURO 2020 qualifier against Czech Republic at Wembley.
There will be a period of appreciation before kick-off for the legendary World Cup winner, who passed away last month at the age of 81.
A banner featuring Gordon’s iconic yellow World Cup ‘1’ shirt will crowd surf before the game gets underway, while Gareth Southgate’s England players will wear black armbands as a mark of respect.
Members of Gordon’s family are attending the game in the Royal Box and representatives of Stoke City have also been invited.
The match-day programme will feature tributes – as will the pitch-side LED advertising boards – and the FA will also be making a donation to The Gordon Banks in Safe Hands Children’s Hospital Fund and Alzheimer’s UK
