Stafylidis Eager For Potters Debut

Kostas Stafylidis

KOSTAS STAFYLIDIS says he would love nothing more than to make his Premier League debut against Huddersfield Town at the bet365 Stadium this weekend.

The highly-regarded Greek international linked up with his new teammates for training on Thursday morning shortly after the Club agreed a five-month loan agreement with Bundesliga side FC Augsburg.

Stafylidis, who has been capped 21 times at international level, has struggled for game time at the WWK Arena this season despite being one of the club’s, and league’s, stand-out performers throughout the 2016/17.

Speaking to Stoke City+ in the build-up to Saturday’s fixture, the 24-year-old confirmed that he is ready and raring to go, providing Paul Lambert sees it fit to thrust him straight into his starting line-up.

“I feel ready, 100 percent!” he exclaimed.

“Of course I have to wait now for the coach to make a decision - If he asks me to play then of course I will play, I will give everything.

“I am so happy to be here, it has always been a big dream of mine to one day play in the Premier League, and now thank you to Stoke City I have this opportunity."

“We will see what happens this weekend, the manager will pick the side that he feels is best suited to winning the game, which is the most important thing.”

The pacy and attack-minded full back says he needed little time to mull over a move to the Potteries when his agent contacted him regarding the Club’s interest.

“As soon as I heard I told my agent directly that I wanted this move,” he added.

“I left it to him then, he spoke to the Club more, and then to the trainer and we all wanted to make this move happen.

“It is good for me, it is good for the Club to bring me here for five months and I am very happy about that.

"Now we need to make sure the Club is playing in the Premier League again next season.”
