Teen Defender Pens New Deal

Tom Edwards

TEENAGE DEFENDER Tom Edwards has signed a new long-term Stoke City contract.

Edwards, a two-time winner of the Club’s Under-18 Player of the Year award, only signed his first professional contract a couple of months ago after completing his scholarship.

However, he has made such significant progress that he has now been rewarded with a new four-year contract.

Stafford-born Edwards, a graduate of the Club’s Academy system, has already caught the eye of manager Mark Hughes and figured in a number of first team games during pre-season.

Chief Executive Tony Scholes said: “It’s always pleasing to see a local lad doing well. Tom’s progressed into the first-team squad and Mark has included him in a number of pre-season matches. He’s earned this new contract.”
