U23s Prepare For Cup Clash

Oliver Shenton

STOKE CITY U23s will be aiming to secure a place in the last eight of the Premier League Cup when they face Blackburn Rovers tonight.

Kevin Russell’s youngsters welcome the Lancashire outfit to Clayton Wood Training Ground this evening with kick off at 6:30pm.

City have reached the knockout stage of the competition for the first time after finishing top of their group ahead of Sunderland, Peterborough United and Charlton Athletic.

Rovers meanwhile ended the group stage in second place behind Premier League club Everton, but ahead of South Yorkshire outfits Sheffield United and Doncaster Rovers.

The Potters enter tonight’s clash on the back of a seven game unbeaten run in all competitions, which has included six straight wins and an impressive 23 goals scored.

Rovers are also in decent form, losing just one of their last seven Premier League affiliated matches, including a 2-2 draw at home to Brighton and Hove Albion last time out.

Entry to tonight's match is free of charge, however please note there is limited space for those wishing to attend.

For those unable to make it to the game, stokecityfc.com will be present to provide regular updates, a report and all the post-match reaction.
