U23s Take Centre Stage

Gabriel Kyeremateng & Nathan Collins

STOKE CITY U23s welcome their Newcastle United counterparts to the bet365 Stadium tonight hoping to kick-start another winning streak to reach the Premier League 2 play-offs.

The side put together a sequence of six straight wins in all competitions earlier in year which helped to propel them up the Division 2 table.

They know however that with only four league matches remaining, and a nine point gap to bridge, they realistically need to win each one to stand a chance of extending their season into May.

Kevin Russell’s side must put behind them two cup defeats in quick succession if they are to do so after they exited the Premier League Cup and Staffordshire Senior Cup in recent weeks.

The Magpies meanwhile arrive in North Staffordshire having won each their last three Premier League affiliated games, including a 3-2 cup win over Derby County at the start of April.

Entry to tonight’s match at the bet365 Stadium, which kicks off at 7.00pm, is free for Season Card holders, £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for concessions.

For those unable to make it to the game, stokecityfc.com will be on hand to provide regular updates, as well as a report and post-match reaction.
