AFTER months of transfer speculation, Saido Berahino completed his long awaited move to the bet365 Stadium in January 2017.
The forward arrived in the Potteries from West Bromwich Albion after falling out of favour with the then Baggies and former City boss Tony Pulis.
Originally born in Burundi, Berahino fled the ongoing civil war in his native homeland with his family and moved to England aged 10. He joined the Baggies’ centre of excellence as an 11-year-old before progressing through the ranks and signing a first professional contract in 2011.
Berahino served his apprenticeship during loan spells at Northampton Town, Brentford and Peterborough United and scored a hat-trick on his Albion debut in a League Cup win over Newport County in August 2013.
His most prolific season at the Hawthorns came in the 2014/15 calendar as he netted 20 goals in all competitions, a return that raised interest from Champions League side Tottenham Hotspur.
