Stoke City under-21 midfielder Darius Lipsiuc has been called up to the Republic of Ireland U21 squad for two international friendlies in Zagreb next month.

The 19-year-old, who made his City debut in September’s Carabao Cup victory over Fleetwood Town, has earned three caps for the young Boys in Green since making his debut against Sweden in November.

Jim Crawford’s side first face Croatia at the Gradski Stadion on Friday, June 6 (4pm kick-off), before taking on Qatar’s under-23s four days later (5pm kick-off).

Lipsiuc played the full 90 minutes in Ireland’s last outing against Hungary, where they came out 3-1 victors.
